Conflict Management and Physical Intervention Trainer Training

Conflict Management and Physical Intervention Trainer Training

Maybo has been at the forefront of conflict management and physical intervention trainer training for over 20 years. During this time we have continuously refined our trainer development programmes and resources to ensure they are among the most comprehensive and highest quality available in this subject area.

We offer a Train the Trainer model that allows trainers to learn the Maybo programmes by attending open or in-house courses. When they have successfully completed the training, their organisation will pay a simple license fee on a yearly basis for a bespoke portal giving them access to our resources and planning tools including presentations, session plans, scenarios, case studies, sector guidance, training needs analysis tools, e-handbooks with videos of skills, e-certificates for delegates, eLearning (optional), etc.

Trainer Development Programmes

Maybo trainer development programmes are intensive, with multiple assessment points and a high pass-standard. Unlike many other programmes, attendance and participation in the training is not rewarded with a certificate, instead, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the subject, an excellent ability to communicate it to others, strong facilitation skills and an approach consistent with Maybo's values are all conditions of certification. Our trainer programmes typically have a 90% - 95% pass rate, compared to many other training providers who have a 100% pass rate.

Whilst Maybo trainer programmes are open to all, typically the 5% - 10% of people who fail to achieve the standard required, at least on first attempt, are relatively inexperienced in either training delivery or workplace violence. Maybo's goal is not to teach people to be great trainers but to teach great trainers to deliver Maybo training to the highest standard.

There are two routes to Maybo trainer training; open courses or in house courses (for organisations wishing to train four or more trainers).

Conflict Management Trainer Development

All delegates must complete four to six hours of self-study online learning followed by an intensive three-day course, during which they will experience the end-user programme and be taught to deliver each session within it. The practical course is engaging and is designed to provide as much practice time as possible. We apply a 1:8 trainer:delegate ratio to ensure each learner has all the support and coaching they need.

Physical Intervention Trainer Development

Depending on the required level of skills (assault avoidance, disengagement, holding, additional holding), sector, risk profile of frontline staff and the unique needs of service users, our physical intervention trainer development programme takes from three to seven days and is an extension of our core conflict management programme, with focus maintained on prevention and de-escalation. The course combines theory and practical sessions to build on trainers' existing knowledge of conflict management. Only competent, experienced conflict management trainers can undertake this programme.

License Fee

The annual license fee will be dependent on how many delegates are likely to be trained in a year by the organisation’s trainers. It will also take into account of which Maybo training resources and workplace tools would be needed by the organisation.
