Olympic Training Legacy

Staff and volunteers did the UK proud at the Olympics and many will take their new skills and qualifications on to the Paralympics and beyond to the benefit of employers everywhere.

The exceptional standards of customer service shown by workers who safely guided, searched and controlled crowds during the London Olympic Games has been widely acknowledged. Around 20,000 of these people received Maybo training - from local authority staff supervising the Torch Relay to 8,500 military personnel and the thousands of security staff. Maybo Training Centres delivered much of the security training, including ESST which ran a highly impressive training operation on the largest scale.

Maybo also directly trained 150 military trainers in a bespoke conflict management programme, and when supporting the roll out saw first hand the professionalism and good humour of these men and women - no matter what they encountered.

There has been much criticism of G4S in connection with the games, yet we have seen tremendous professionalism and dedication from G4S and its event managers and staff, who kept their chins up and played a critical and unsung role in the safety and success of the 2012 Olympics.
