Violence Survey Reveals Serious Under Reporting of Incidents

The Community Care annual survey has not only revealed that 85% of social workers have been verbally abused or physically assaulted during the past year, it also demonstrates a staggering 70% of incidents are not reported. 

It appears from the results that violence at work is accepted as 'part of the job' by many social workers and thier employers.

Of the 446 sample more than half stated they had not received any formal training in how to deal with threats of violence or violent incidents and felt they were expected to cope on their own.
