Violence Against the Person Offences Up 23%: Latest Crime Statistics

Improvements in crime recording processes by the police is thought to be the main driver of a 23% rise in the number of violence against the person offences recorded in the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) year ending March 2015, compared with the previous year.

Violence without injury accounted for almost half (48%) of all CSEW violent incidents in the year ending March 2015, while the more serious crimes of assault with minor injury and wounding accounted for 27% and 24% respectively.
