HSE Launches New National Code For Local Authorities

The HSE has launched a new code to improve the targeting of health and safety inspections – ensuring that local authority checks are more focused on serious risks and poor performers.
Violence at work is included in the published list of activities/sectors suitable for targeting proactive inspection under the new enforcement code. This includes premises with vulnerable working conditions such as lone and/or night working and covers care settings, betting shops and off licences.
The code sets out the risk based approach to targeting health and safety interventions to be followed by LA regulators.
