Hospital Bosses Ask Patients to Stop Violence Against Staff

Bosses at both Epsom and St Helier Hospitals in Surrey have issued a plea to patients to stop attacking doctors and nurses.

A Freedom of Information request from the Sutton Guardian revealed that more than 450 attacks have taken place in the past five years. The incidents mainly involved clinical staff were split pretty evenly between the two hospitals.

Attacks in forty five cases lead to a need for hospital treatment.

The number of incidents across the Trust has been falling since 2011, when it reached a high of 116 for the year.
