Four Year Prison Sentence for Physical Attack on Taxi Driver

A man has been jailed for four years after admitting trying to rob a taxi driver. The driver, Gurhinder Singh Gill was subjected to an aggressive physical attack and demands to hand over money.

Nathan Sully, 25, got into the cab and asked to be let out at a roundabout. When the taxi stopped he grabbed hold of Mr Gill's throat by putting his arm through a gap between the seat and the driver's side door. Mr Gill managed to break free and get out of the taxi. He called the police after Sully ran off.

Sully was picked up later that night and arrested but denied the attack.

Appearing court on the morning of his trial, he pleaded guilty to assault with intent to rob.
