SIA boss Bill Butler urges door supervisors to undertake approved physical intervention training "now"

In an exclusive interview with the Publican's Morning Advertiser, chief executive of the Security Industry Authorirty (SIA), Bill Butler, urges all door supervisors to ensure they are properly trained in physical intervention as soon as possible. 

In 2010 it became a requirement for all new door supervisors entering the industry to successfully complete an approved physical intervention programme as part of their mandatory basic training. Earlier this year the SIA announced that it will become mandatory for all existing door supervisors to have also completed this training before they are able to renew their licence (required every 3 years). 

In this interview Bill Butler emphasises the risks to door staff, customers and venue operators of non door staff not being trained in physical intervention.
