Wearable Technology - Can it Have an Impact on Behaviour?

Whilst the effectiveness of CCTV as a deterrent on crime is disputed, there is increasing evidence to suggest that body worn cameras have a real impact on both the behaviours of those been filmed and the staff wearing them.
With visible body cameras this impact is largely positive with cameras inhibiting behaviour, possibly as those being filmed become more self aware and conscious of consequence. Cameras have also been shown to reduce use of force by police officers and there is no reason to doubt these benefits will occur with security and enforcement officers.
Whilst not cheap the equipment and data / evidence management systems have improved dramatically. With proper, considered guidelines and supervision on use, the question is can we afford not to have it?
